Vietnam launches Hue-Phong Nha heritage tourist train

The Vietnam National Railway Group (VNR), in collaboration with authorities from Quang Tri Province and Hue City, has officially launched the “Hue Ancient Capital – Phong Nha: World Heritage Journey” tourist train. Operating on a 190-kilometer route, the service connects major UNESCO World Heritage sites and historical landmarks, including the Hue Ancient Capital, Quang Tri Citadel, Vinh Moc Tunnels, and Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park.

The eight-carriage train is designed to transform travel into a leisure experience. It features five carriages with 180-degree rotating seats for sightseeing, a 24-seat VIP carriage with complimentary refreshments, and a community carriage for folk music and local culinary showcases. Notably, the train includes a multi-purpose entertainment carriage offering cinema services, massage chairs, and even on-site tailoring and traditional dress rentals.

This strategic product marks VNR’s first major tourism initiative following its transition to a national railway group model. The service aims to link two major tourism hubs in central Vietnam, tapping into a combined market of millions. To promote the launch, VNR is offering significant ticket discounts of up to 50% through early September 2026, with ongoing promotional pricing scheduled through the end of the year.
