Vietnam launches national agricultural traceability system to boost export value
Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung attended the launch of Vietnam’s National Agricultural Traceability System, a digital platform designed to record every stage of farm‑produce from cultivation to export. The system uses blockchain, digital signatures, GS1 standards and QR codes to verify product origin, enhance transparency and protect consumer safety, with an initial pilot covering durian exports.
At launch the platform already included traceability data for more than 18,500 items from 170 companies across 24 of Vietnam’s 34 provinces. Officials said the tool will help Vietnamese agricultural goods meet the growing demand for traceability in key markets such as China, the European Union and the United States, and is expected to raise the reputation and price of the country’s exports, which reached almost $31 billion in the first five months of the year.
