Vietnam launches national child protection programme 2026‑2030
Vietnam’s government has approved a national child protection and child‑labour prevention programme covering the period 2026‑2030. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra signed the decision, which aims to create a safe, healthy environment for all children and to support victims of violence, sexual abuse, illegal child labour and other risks.
Key targets include reducing child violence and sexual‑abuse cases by at least 5 % each year, lowering the child‑labour rate for ages 5‑17 to below 1.1 % by 2030, providing child‑protection education to all families and school students, training 100 % of officials in health, education and social‑assistance sectors, and delivering guidance to 90 % of businesses on preventing child labour. The programme also calls for integrated protection service models in all provinces, inter‑sectoral mechanisms in 95 % of communes and child‑friendly interview rooms at the commune level.
