Vietnam launches national plan to combat online human trafficking and fraud

Vice‑Premier Pham Gia Tuc signed Decision No. 1154/QD‑TTg on 30 July 2026, launching Vietnam’s implementation plan for the World Day against human trafficking. The plan, aligned with the UN’s 2026 theme “Trapped by scams”, calls on ministries, local governments, media, and online influencers (KOLs and KOCs) to raise awareness and report suspicious activity through hotlines 111, 113, the VNeID app and official ministry platforms. Authorities will intensify detection and dismantling of criminal networks that use false online job offers and advanced technologies for scams and trafficking, including operations targeting Vietnamese citizens forced to work in overseas online‑casino or scam centres. Victim assistance will be expanded with rapid rescue, legal protection, social reintegration, micro‑credit, vocational training and dedicated psychological support, especially for women and girls. The plan also strengthens coordination among the Ministry of Public Security, judicial bodies, and civil‑society organisations to safeguard vulnerable populations and ensure effective prosecution of traffickers.
