Vietnam launches national traceability system for agricultural products

From 1 July the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development officially activated a digital traceability system for farm produce after a six‑month pilot with durian destined for China. The platform now integrates data on more than 18 500 products across 181 groups, supplied by 170 enterprises in 24 of the country’s 34 provinces.

The system supports three modules – a public portal for consumers, a management interface for regulators and businesses, and a mobile app – and can process around 1 000 queries per second, handle 30 000 simultaneous scans and record up to 85 million scans daily. Six export containers of certified durian have already reached the Chinese market.

Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dũng attended the launch, stressing that the initiative will raise product quality, meet stricter foreign‑market standards, protect consumer safety and raise farmers’ incomes while advancing the digital transformation of Vietnam’s agriculture sector.
