Vietnam launches online portals for driver licence verification and vehicle recall checks

The Ministry of Public Security has opened an online service portal where citizens can log in with their VNeID electronic identity to view and verify their renewed electronic driver licences. After logging in, users can check the processing status of their licence renewal and, while waiting for the physical card, view the electronic licence through the VneTraffic app.

Separately, the Department of Registration (Cục Đăng kiểm Việt Nam) has issued guidance on checking whether a vehicle is subject to a manufacturer recall before the mandatory inspection. Under the new Regulation No. 30/2026/TT‑BXD effective 1 July 2026, owners must verify recall status via the department’s website or the official brand sites and address any defects before submitting the vehicle for inspection. Exceptions apply if owners can prove that repairs have already been completed by the manufacturer or an authorized dealer.
