Vietnam launches plan to boost labor productivity and attract global talent

Vietnam has launched a comprehensive plan to increase national labor productivity by developing a modern and efficient labor market. Signed by Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra, the plan outlines eight key task groups aimed at achieving double-digit economic growth and enhancing national capacity.

A central component of the strategy is attracting high-quality domestic and international talent. The Ministry of Finance will lead efforts to create superior financial, tax, and investment fund policies to support businesses and experts. Simultaneously, the Ministry of Home Affairs, in coordination with the Ministries of Education and Training and Science and Technology, will review and improve regulations regarding wages, income, and work permits to attract foreign scientists and specialists.

The plan also emphasizes shifting labor from low-productivity sectors to high-productivity areas. Key objectives include promoting science, technology, digital transformation, and innovation. The government aims to complete the revision and issuance of these related policies by 2027.
