Vietnam launches senior health checks, DNA campaign and cultural festivals in 2026

From 2026, Vietnamese seniors will receive a free annual health check and have individual medical records, as mandated by Decision No. 1116/QD‑TTg signed by the Prime Minister on 22 June.

A national DNA‑sample collection drive began on 24 June to gather specimens from relatives of unidentified martyrs, part of a 500‑day effort ahead of the 80th anniversary of the War Invalids and Martyrs Day.

President and Party General Secretary To Lam stressed the role of Vietnam’s youth during the 13th Ho Chi Minh Youth Union Congress, reaffirming confidence in the younger generation.

UNESCO re‑validated the Non Nuoc Cao Bang site as a World Geopark, highlighting its exceptional geological heritage.

The government assigned 20 strategic tasks in science, technology and innovation to ten ministries under Decision No. 808/QD‑TTg, aiming to boost Vietnam’s technological development.

Cultural events included the National Press Fair in Hai Phong (19‑21 June) and the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (30 May‑11 July), featuring top global pyrotechnic teams.

Tourism figures showed more than 10 million international visitors arrived in Vietnam during the first five months of 2026.
