Vietnam livestock sectors shift toward high-tech and sustainable production
Livestock sectors in Vietnam's Khánh Hòa and Đồng Nai provinces are undergoing transitions to increase economic value and sustainability.
In Khánh Hòa, the goat and sheep industry benefits from favorable ecological conditions, with a population of approximately 210,000 animals as of September 2026. However, the sector faces challenges including small-scale household production, weak links between farmers and enterprises, and limited processing technology. Efforts are focused on moving beyond simple weight-based sales toward better slaughtering, processing, and branding.
In Đồng Nai, livestock production—primarily pigs and poultry—accounts for roughly 50% of the province's agriculture, forestry, and fishery production value. The region is shifting from small-scale farming to high-tech, large-scale farms and green, circular economy models. The province has established 46 production chains involving major companies like C. P. Việt Nam and Japfa Comfeed Việt Nam to connect breeding, feed, slaughtering, and consumption.
