Red River Delta logistics forum targets new growth spaces

At the 7th Regional Logistics Forum held in Hai Phong, Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung and leaders from the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) emphasized the critical role of logistics in driving economic growth. The forum focused on creating new development spaces for the Red River Delta, a strategic gateway for northern Vietnam.

Vietnam's logistics sector has maintained an annual growth rate of approximately 14-16%, contributing roughly 4.5-5% to the national GDP. Experts and officials noted that as the country moves toward a 1 trillion USD import-export turnover target, the logistics industry must undergo significant upgrades in infrastructure, multimodal connectivity, and digital transformation.

Key challenges identified include high logistics costs, fragmented investment, and a heavy reliance on road transport. To address these, officials proposed shifting from a management-based approach to one of creation and service, focusing on integrated supply chains and economic corridors rather than administrative boundaries. The goal is to enhance national competitiveness by reducing bottlenecks in transport networks, warehousing, and customs procedures.
