Vietnam maritime forces conduct IUU awareness and rescue training
Vietnamese maritime authorities are conducting various training and awareness initiatives to improve maritime safety and regulatory compliance.
In Hai Phong, Drug Crime Prevention Task Force No. 1 and the Trang Cat Border Guard Station organized an awareness campaign at Mat Rong port. The initiative targeted nearly 100 vessel owners to combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Officials distributed legal documents, leaflets, life jackets, and national flags to encourage fishermen to adhere to maritime laws and avoid illegal fishing in foreign waters.
Simultaneously, in Quang Tri province, the Border Guard Command held professional training sessions from September 22 to 26. The program focused on maritime search and rescue skills for technical staff and boat operators. Training included locating distressed vessels via coordinates, swimming to rescue drowning victims, providing first aid, and managing rescue equipment to enhance the force's ability to respond to maritime emergencies and natural disasters.
