Vietnam maritime team rescues critically ill Indian sailor

The Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center launched an emergency operation on Sunday to rescue an Indian sailor suffering from a critical illness aboard the Marshall Islands-flagged cargo ship RAMHAN.

The crew member, identified as third engineer Panjanathan Elanchezhiyan, exhibited severe symptoms including fever, chills, dizziness, high blood pressure, and impaired behavioral control. Following an urgent medical assistance request from the ship’s captain, the center dispatched the specialized rescue vessel SAR 273 from Khanh Hoa Province.

Upon reaching the RAMHAN at approximately 9:30 am, the rescue team provided initial medical assistance and worked to transfer the patient to shore for specialized medical care. The operation focused on minimizing transit time to ensure the patient's safety during the transfer.
