Vietnam markets show volatility and selective recovery in stocks and real estate

Vietnam's financial markets are experiencing varied movements across the stock and real estate sectors. The VN-Index recently saw a period of volatility, closing at 1,795.21 points during the week of September 7–11, a decrease of 3.12%. Analysts suggest the market is in a cautious accumulation phase, with upcoming variables such as Federal Reserve decisions and derivative expirations likely to determine if the index can maintain its support levels.

In a subsequent session on September 15, the VN-Index rose by 22 points to reach 1,811 points, supported by significant net buying from foreign investors. Foreign entities purchased approximately 730 billion VND worth of stocks, with heavy interest in banking stocks like VCB, which saw inflows exceeding 228 billion VND. Conversely, VIC led the list of net sells at 343 billion VND.

The real estate market is showing signs of a selective recovery. Approximately 100,005 successful transactions were recorded nationwide, with demand concentrating on products offering practical utility and long-term value. While liquidity has decreased compared to previous periods, the M&A market remains active; Vietnam recorded 126 announced M&A transactions in the first half of the year, with an estimated total value of 2.43 billion USD.
