Vietnam marks 40 years of Doi Moi economic reforms

Vietnam is marking 40 years of the 'Doi Moi' (Renovation) reforms, a period characterized by profound socioeconomic transformation. Since 1986, the nation has transitioned from a closed economy facing hyperinflation and food shortages to a major agricultural exporter and a participant in 17 free trade agreements.

Key economic indicators highlight this progress, including a reduction in the multidimensional poverty rate to approximately 1.3% by 2025. While debates continue regarding income gaps with developed nations and labor productivity, the reforms have fundamentally shifted Vietnam's global economic standing.

In parallel with these domestic milestones, Vietnamese leadership is active on the international stage. General Secretary and State President To Lam attended the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, participating in general debates and conducting bilateral meetings with various world leaders to strengthen diplomatic ties.
