Vietnam marks 65 years since Agent Orange disaster with nationwide events
Vietnam is commemorating the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange (dioxin) disaster that resulted from U.S. chemical use during the war. The activities, organized by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin Association, carry the theme "65 years – From disaster to a joint journey of healing" and include meetings, exhibitions, film productions, publications and fundraising drives.
A key event is the exhibition "Agent Orange – Reason and Justice" opening on 22 July at the Da Nang Museum and running for a month, showcasing over 400 photos, documents and artifacts. The association has raised more than VND 1 billion to build shelter homes for victims, with a target of 3,408 houses nationwide. The national congress of the association, scheduled for late September in Hanoi, will gather over 250 delegates representing roughly 400,000 members to review past work and set priorities for 2026‑2031, including strengthening the organization, improving victim support and mobilising resources.
