Vietnam Ministry of Construction clarifies social housing eligibility

The Vietnamese Ministry of Construction has provided clarification regarding eligibility for social housing for individuals living in cramped conditions. Under the 2023 Housing Law, specifically Article 78, certain eligible groups may qualify for social housing if they currently own a home but the average living area per person is below the minimum required threshold.

This regulation applies to those who have not previously owned a home, purchased, or leased social housing, or received other housing support in the province or centrally-run city where the social housing project is located. The law also accounts for individuals whose current housing area per capita falls below the minimum standard set by the government.
