Vietnam flooding disrupts transport and education in multiple provinces

Severe flooding across several provinces in Vietnam, including Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, and Thanh Hoa, has triggered emergency responses and significant disruptions to transport and education.

In Ninh Binh, rising water levels on the Day and Hoang Long rivers have submerged hundreds of households. In Gia Vien district, over 830 households have been directly affected, with some areas seeing water levels rise more than 1 meter. To ensure safety, local authorities have restricted waterway traffic on the Day River and implemented online learning for hundreds of students in flooded areas like Kenh Ga village.

In Hanoi, heavy rains caused the Day River to overflow, submerging three bridges—72, Dai Thanh, and Tan Phu—leading to total traffic bans and forcing commuters to take long detours. Meanwhile, in Phu Tho, the Boi River has reached critical levels, exceeding alarm level 3.

The Ministry of Construction has issued directives to various transport and construction departments to monitor river levels closely, secure infrastructure, and deploy personnel to manage dangerous crossings and ensure public safety during the flood event.
