Vietnam Ministry of Education drafts vocational skills exam regulations

The Ministry of Education and Training is drafting a new circular to provide a legal framework for organizing and participating in vocational skills competitions at domestic and international levels.

To date, Vietnam has hosted 12 national vocational skills competitions and participated in 11 ASEAN-level and 9 WorldSkills competitions. Currently, participants are primarily students from vocational and higher education institutions. However, the Ministry noted a lack of specific legal guidance, which has led to issues such as late establishment of provincial organizing committees, delayed approval of training regulations, and unclear guidelines for exam development and resource mobilization.

The proposed draft aims to unify the organization of provincial and national exams, as well as participation in ASEAN, Asian, and global competitions. It will also define the responsibilities of various agencies, organizations, and individuals involved in the process.
