The 2026 National Cybersecurity Drill, organized by the Ministry of Public Security's Cybersecurity Department and the National Cybersecurity Association, was held in Hanoi. The program simulated sophisticated cyberattacks targeting the information systems of a hypothetical financial organization.

The drill featured 10 competing teams comprising officers and specialists from cybersecurity departments of various provincial police forces, as well as specialized units from central ministries and agencies. The scenario required participants to perform dual roles: defending the system against active attacks while simultaneously conducting digital forensics to trace criminal activities.

The simulation was divided into three distinct stages. The first stage involved initial infiltration through a Learning Management System (LMS) using malicious attachments. The second stage focused on cloud infrastructure escalation, where attackers exploited credential management weaknesses to deploy malware on Kubernetes clusters. The final stage targeted the theft of digital assets through attacks on blockchain infrastructure.

This year's program introduced new elements by integrating Cloud, Blockchain, and digital asset scenarios into the combat training, aiming to enhance the capacity of national forces to protect critical digital infrastructure against modern, organized cybercrime.
