Vietnam Ministry of Education issues new vocational teacher standards

The Ministry of Education and Training has issued Circular 87/2026/TT-BGDĐT, establishing a new framework for training the professional practical capacity of vocational education teachers and lecturers. This regulation aims to standardize the teaching workforce in response to technological innovation, digital transformation, and the need to align training with real-world production and business requirements.

A significant feature of the new circular is the mechanism for direct assessment and competency recognition. Individuals with appropriate professional degrees and at least three years of practical teaching experience or work experience in enterprises, production facilities, or service businesses can apply for direct assessment. Those who pass the evaluation council will be granted a Professional Practical Capacity Certificate without the mandatory requirement to attend a full training course, thereby saving time and costs.

The training content is updated to include digital technology applications, such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), specialized software, information security, and cybersecurity. Additionally, the program emphasizes occupational safety, environmental protection, green development, and sustainable practices, prioritizing practical activities and technological experiences within enterprises.
