Vietnam Ministry of Education issues strategic sector scholarship guidelines
The Ministry of Education and Training has issued Circular No. 80/2026/TT-BGDDT to provide detailed guidance on scholarship policies for students in basic sciences, key engineering, and strategic technology sectors. This follows Government Decree No. 179/2026/ND-CP.
To qualify for the scholarship, students must fall within the top 30% of candidates nationwide in their specific field of study. The selection process is based on high school graduation exam results, regardless of the admission method used. The score is calculated by summing Mathematics and the two highest-scoring subjects among Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English, all on a 10-point scale without coefficients. Notably, priority points, bonus points, or foreign language certificate conversions are not used in this calculation.
A significant administrative improvement is that students do not need to manually apply for or renew these scholarships. Information is automatically extracted from national enrollment and training management databases. If data is missing or inaccurate, educational institutions are responsible for verification and updates.
