Vietnam Ministry of Education proposes new lecturer training program
The Ministry of Education and Training is seeking public feedback on a draft circular regarding the professional standard training program for college and university lecturers. The initiative aims to implement regulations from the Law on Teachers and equip educators with essential competencies to meet modern professional requirements, particularly in the context of digital transformation, artificial intelligence application, and innovation.
The proposed program shifts away from theoretical content and repetitive material, focusing instead on increasing practical hours, discussions, exercises, and situational problem-solving. Assessment will be conducted via modules based on learning outcomes, emphasizing the application of knowledge and skills through practical tasks and products rather than rote memorization.
The curriculum is designed to be flexible and interconnected, consisting of common competency modules applicable to both college and university lecturers, alongside specific modules tailored to different lecturer groups. This modular structure allows learners to accumulate results and complete the program or specific modules to receive certification, thereby reducing unnecessary time and costs for both learners and training institutions.
