Vietnam Ministry of Education proposes new security for national student exams
The Ministry of Education and Training is proposing new security and technological measures for the national excellent student selection exam. According to a draft regulation, candidates will undergo screening with metal detectors before entering exam rooms to prevent the use of unauthorized electronic devices.
To enhance supervision, the Ministry proposes installing continuous surveillance cameras in exam rooms, corridors, and exam storage areas. To ensure data security, these cameras will operate on a wired local area network without internet or wireless connectivity. Recorded data will be sealed and stored for a minimum of nine months to serve as evidence for investigating rule violations.
The draft also introduces digital transformation in the grading process. Paper exams will be digitized, allowing graders to mark them directly on computers using software that automatically anonymizes student identities and assigns papers randomly. This system is intended to increase transparency, objectivity, and accuracy while reducing human error.
Additionally, the Ministry plans to introduce a selection exam for an Artificial Intelligence Olympic team, drawing candidates from students registered in informatics at the national excellent student exam.
