Vietnam Ministry of Health orders Shopee to remove unregistered functional food

The Vietnam Food Administration, under the Ministry of Health, has issued a formal request to Shopee to review and potentially remove the product ‘An cung nguu hoang hoan Korea wooden box 10 tablets - Vu hoang thanh tam stroke prevention’ from its e-commerce platform.

Following a post-inspection of functional food registrations, authorities discovered the product was being advertised for various medical uses, including supporting people with vestibular disorders, migraines, cerebral anemia, and coronary artery disease, as well as preventing strokes and cerebral hemorrhages. However, the Vietnam Food Administration stated that it has not issued a product registration certificate for this specific item.

Under Decree 15/2018/ND-CP, health supplements and medical foods must have their contents registered and approved by competent authorities before they can be advertised or circulated on the market. Shopee has been instructed to cease business of the product and verify its compliance with legal regulations to ensure consumer health and rights.
