Vietnam Ministry of Home Affairs proposes single-day holiday for 2026 Culture Day
The Ministry of Home Affairs has submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister regarding the holiday schedule for Vietnam Culture Day in 2026. The Ministry is recommending that the holiday be observed for a single day on Tuesday, November 24, 2026, without any compensatory workdays.
This revised proposal follows an earlier suggestion to create a four-day continuous holiday by swapping Monday, November 23, with Saturday, November 28. However, after reviewing feedback and assessing practical requirements, the Ministry opted for a more cautious approach. They noted that late November is a critical period when government agencies are finalizing annual work plans and businesses are accelerating production to meet year-end targets and orders.
Under the proposed plan, civil servants, public employees, and workers will receive their full salary for the holiday on November 24. The Ministry emphasized that this decision aims to minimize disruptions to work, study, and business schedules while still honoring the significance of the cultural occasion. Cultural activities can be organized flexibly around the date to ensure they are meaningful and efficient without requiring an extended break.
