Vietnam Ministry of Industry and Trade issues directive for Tet 2027 market stability
Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued Directive No. 12/CT-BCT to ensure supply and demand balance and stabilize the market for the end of 2026 and the Tet Dinh Mui 2027 Lunar New Year holiday. The directive, signed by Minister Le Manh Hung, instructs provincial Departments of Industry and Trade to closely monitor consumer demand and the supply of essential goods, including food, fuel, and gas.
Local authorities are tasked with developing monthly supply plans and coordinating with businesses to maintain adequate reserves to prevent shortages or unreasonable price hikes. The Ministry also called for increased inspections to detect and penalize speculation, hoarding, and violations regarding price listing. Key focus areas for inspections include electronics, clothing, food, and beverages.
This move comes as Vietnam reported a 9.01% GDP growth in the first nine months of 2026, though the average CPI rose by 4.52%, exceeding inflation control targets. The Ministry aims to mobilize manufacturers, supermarkets, and distributors to ensure products remain accessible at reasonable prices during the high-demand holiday period.
