Vietnam Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment clarifies land certificate procedures

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has provided guidance regarding the correction of errors on land use certificates (red books) and the procedures for reissuing lost certificates.

Regarding errors in land plot information, such as discrepancies in plot numbers or area between adjacent properties, the Ministry stated that corrections must follow Article 152 of the 2024 Land Law. The specific administrative procedures for these corrections are determined by provincial People's Committees in accordance with government decrees.

In cases where an original land use certificate has been lost, the Ministry clarified that while a photocopy cannot replace the original document, it can be submitted to assist land registration agencies in searching cadastral records and verifying information. For individuals dealing with inheritance of land rights where the original certificate is missing, they must perform registration of changes due to inheritance and report the loss to the competent authorities. Specific guidance and administrative sequences are managed at the provincial level, such as in Cao Bang province.
