Vietnam Ministry of Public Security clears Bugatti owner of incorrect speeding fine

The Ministry of Public Security has addressed a case involving an incorrect speeding fine issued to a Bugatti owner. The error occurred when an automated camera system misidentified the color of a license plate.

A citizen reported receiving a speeding violation notice for a Bugatti with license plate 90A-000.XX (white background, black text) recorded in Quang Binh province on December 21, 2024. However, the owner stated they were not in the area at that time.

Upon investigation by the Traffic Police Department and Quang Tri Provincial Traffic Police, it was discovered that the actual vehicle captured by the camera had the same alphanumeric sequence but featured a blue background with white text. The Ministry concluded that the camera system misread the plate color, leading to the incorrect identification. The violation status has since been updated from “violation” to “no violation,” and the owner has been notified of the resolution.
