The Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations, the WTO, and other international organizations in Geneva, in collaboration with Hanoi's Foreign Trade University, hosted a hybrid seminar on August 17 to examine the evolution of global industrial policies.

Minister Counsellor Pham Quang Huy noted that industrial policy has returned to the center of economic and trade strategies for major economies. He highlighted that subsidies, technology policies, green measures, and supply-chain strategies are increasingly defining global competition. For Vietnam, these shifts pose potential impacts on exports, investment, and its position within global value chains.

To mitigate risks and capture opportunities, Huy emphasized the necessity for Vietnam to utilize evidence-based analysis to strengthen domestic supply chains and develop strategic technologies. Keynote speaker Simon Evenett, a professor at the International Institute for Management Development, observed that major economies are leveraging their vast resources and large domestic markets to implement these industrial policies.
