Vietnam National Assembly discusses 2026-2027 development plans

During the 2nd session of the 16th National Assembly, delegates discussed Vietnam’s socio-economic development plans for 2026 and 2027, state budget implementation, and public investment strategies.

Quang Minh Cuong, representing Quang Ninh, highlighted the need for high growth targets, noting that Quang Ninh aims for 13% growth in 2026. He urged for budget allocations that reflect local capacity and suggested reducing reliance on land-based revenue.

Addressing administrative efficiency, discussions focused on improving the handling of citizen complaints and denunciations to prevent social instability. There were calls to enhance legal frameworks and increase oversight to ensure citizen rights are protected.

Bui Hoai Son emphasized the need to integrate culture into national development indicators. He noted a lack of direct cultural metrics in the 2027 socio-economic targets and proposed measurable indicators, such as state budget spending on culture and the growth of cultural industries, to ensure culture serves as a tangible driver of sustainable growth.
