Vietnam National Assembly passes multiple laws and resolutions

The National Assembly of Vietnam concluded its first extraordinary session of the 16th Legislature, passing a significant number of laws and resolutions. Key legislative actions included the approval of the amended Petroleum Law to encourage offshore and deep-water exploration, and the amended Law on Customs, which introduces new oversight for e-commerce platforms and postal services effective March 2027.

Other major approvals included the amended Law on Dissemination and Education of Law, the Law on Grassroots Conciliation, and various laws concerning military and national defense. The Assembly also passed resolutions for critical infrastructure and development projects, such as the Hanoi Capital Beltway 5, the Lao Cai-Hanoi-Hai Phong railway line, and special mechanisms for projects related to the APEC 2027 summit in Phu Quoc. Additionally, the Assembly approved an agreement regarding the Ninh Thuan nuclear power plant project and passed a resolution to reduce social order crimes by 10% annually, effective 2027.

In a separate development, the National Assembly passed a resolution to establish Quang Ninh as a centrally-governed city.
