Vietnam National Assembly reviews Postal Law amendments
The National Assembly of Vietnam is reviewing a draft amendment to the Postal Law to adapt to the rapid growth of e-commerce and digital transformation. The proposed changes aim to establish postal services as essential infrastructure for the digital economy and society.
Key provisions in the draft include expanding the scope of universal postal services from letters to include packages and parcels nationwide. This expansion is intended to improve e-commerce access for residents in remote, border, and island areas.
The amendment also proposes shifting management methods from pre-inspection to post-inspection. This includes replacing the current business licensing mechanism with a service registration system, which is expected to reduce administrative procedures from 14 down to one.
