Vietnam National Assembly Sets Legal Framework for APEC 2027 Projects

Vietnam's National Assembly held an extraordinary session to consider draft laws and a resolution that would create special mechanisms for projects linked to the APEC Economic Leaders' Week 2027. The proposals aim to provide a legal basis for swiftly addressing obstacles in infrastructure works, especially those in the Phu Quoc Special Zone, allowing temporary suspension of prosecutions to enable remediation and ensuring timely completion of key facilities.

Lawmakers also called for the criteria governing APEC 2027 projects to be made public, stressing transparency and the need for clear standards as Vietnam prepares to host the summit and boost its international standing.
