Vietnam National Assembly Standing Committee begins review of 31 law projects

The National Assembly Standing Committee of Vietnam has commenced its sixth session, which is divided into two stages: the first occurring on September 3–4, 2026, and the second from September 21–25, 2026.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man presided over the opening, noting that the session serves as a critical preparatory step for the upcoming second session of the 16th National Assembly. The committee is expected to review approximately 40 items, including opinions on 31 out of 41 proposed law projects and resolutions intended for the National Assembly.

Key legislative areas under review include healthcare (Medical Examination and Treatment Law, Pharmacy Law, Population Law), finance (Securities Law, Accounting Law, Independent Audit Law), and social welfare (Social Insurance Law, Law on Children, Law on Persons with Disabilities). Other significant topics include data security, electronic identification, food safety, and various tax and environmental regulations. Chairman Tran Thanh Man emphasized that despite the heavy workload and tight deadlines, the quality and feasibility of the legislation must remain the top priority.
