Vietnam national football team faces offensive challenges ahead of Asian Cup

Vietnam national football team head coach Kim Sang Sik is navigating significant personnel challenges as the team prepares for the 2027 Asian Cup. The squad is currently facing a shortage of reliable attacking options due to player injuries, fitness issues, and varying levels of form among key strikers.

Specific concerns include the upcoming two-match suspension of player Dinh Bac during the group stages of the 2027 Asian Cup. While players such as Tai Loc and Xuan Son may improve their form before the tournament, their availability for the crucial November training camp remains uncertain.

Coach Kim Sang Sik is expected to use upcoming friendly matches in November to test new faces and tactical adjustments. The objective is to develop a cohesive playing style that does not rely solely on replacing specific individuals, but rather adapts the team's system to maximize the strengths of available players. This period is viewed as a critical step in transitioning from regional success to competing effectively against major Asian powers.
