Vietnam Navy rescues fisherman after four days adrift at sea

A Vietnamese fisherman, Truong Van Trung, survived four days adrift at sea after being swept overboard from his fishing boat on August 12. He managed to stay afloat by clinging to a piece of black foam.

On August 16, the Vietnam People's Navy's 129th Naval Brigade, operating vessel 743, spotted Trung near the Thang Long oil field, approximately 80 nautical miles from the coast. Despite dark conditions and heavy waves, naval personnel successfully rescued him.

Trung, a resident of An Giang, was found in a weakened state due to a lack of food and water. Following his rescue, naval medical teams provided first aid, food, and rest. On August 18, the naval brigade handed him over to the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Port Border Guard to be reunited with his family.
