Vietnam Open 2026: Nguyễn Hải Đăng reaches quarterfinals

The Vietnam Open 2026, a BWF Tour Super 100 badminton tournament held at the Nguyễn Du Sports Complex in Ho Chi Minh City, features over 300 players competing for a total prize pool of $120,000.

Vietnamese player Nguyễn Hải Đăng has emerged as a primary hope for the host nation after several top local players, including Nguyễn Thùy Linh, Vũ Thị Trang, and Lê Đức Phát, were eliminated early in the competition. Following victories over Cheam June Wei of Malaysia and Tharun Mannepalli of India, Nguyễn Hải Đăng advanced to the men's singles quarterfinals.

In the quarterfinals, Nguyễn Hải Đăng is scheduled to face Japan's Minoru Koga. This match serves as a rematch of the Indonesia Masters, where the Vietnamese player previously defeated Koga in straight sets. Other Vietnamese competitors, such as Bùi Bích Phương, continue to represent the country in various categories including women's singles and doubles.
