Vietnam’s Government Inspectorate issued audit conclusion No 318/KL‑TTCP on 18 June 2026 covering the Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 project. The audit uncovered numerous breaches in contract components 2 and 3, including illegal subcontract transfers, use of foreign‑currency contracts and payments in U.S. dollars that could expose the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) to exchange‑rate losses. It also found that the project manager lacked the legally required professional licence.

The Inspectorate forwarded its findings to the Ministry of Public Security for possible criminal investigation and urged the Prime Minister to direct the ministries of Construction, Finance and local authorities to tighten oversight of subcontractors. In parallel, the Vietnamese government approved the extension of the Ben Thanh–Suối Tiên metro line to Long Thanh Airport and Dong Nai as an urgent‑construction project, aiming to improve transport links ahead of the airport’s commercial launch.
