Vietnam outlines leadership assessment and nuclear workforce policies

The Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam has ordered a comprehensive evaluation of current party and government leaders to create a personnel rotation and deployment plan for 2026. The Central Organization Committee will review and amend central documents on functions, duties, staffing and party‑state structures, with revisions due by December 2026 and a performance‑evaluation framework to be finalised in 2027. Implementation will be phased across provincial and commune levels through 2026‑2027.

At the 7th National Nuclear Legal Conference in Quảng Ninh, Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Linh, Director of the Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Agency, urged the government to adopt special policies to attract, develop and retain high‑quality nuclear‑energy staff. He outlined Vietnam’s peaceful‑use nuclear strategy targeting two Ninh Thuận reactors and at least one small‑modular reactor by 2035, and a longer‑term vision of four large reactors and 10‑15 SMRs by 2050. The plan includes building a modern national radiation‑safety agency, expanding training programmes, and strengthening cooperation with the IAEA and other international bodies.
