Vietnam outlines strategic development for South Central Coast and Central Highlands

The Communist Party of Vietnam's Politburo has approved Resolution No. 27-NQ/TW, aiming to transform the South Central Coast and Central Highlands into a zone of rapid, sustainable growth by 2030. The plan focuses on building a green and circular economy by leveraging the complementary strengths of the region's diverse landscapes.

The coastal areas, including Da Nang, Quang Ngai, and Khanh Hoa, are targeted for expansion in the marine economy, seaport services, industry, and maritime tourism. Meanwhile, the Central Highlands—comprising Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong—will utilize its land, forests, minerals, and renewable energy potential to bolster commercial agriculture and forestry.

Key objectives include the integration of coastal and highland development, the promotion of science, technology, and digital transformation, and the establishment of renewable energy hubs. The resolution seeks to create integrated value chains spanning production, processing, transport, and tourism to strengthen connections between domestic and international markets.
