Vietnam pepper exports reach 1.2 billion USD in eight months
Vietnam's pepper exports have reached 1.2 billion USD in the first eight months of 2026. According to preliminary data from the Vietnam Pepper and Spice Association (VPSA), the country exported a total volume of 190,153 tons during this period.
This represents a 14.2% increase in volume and an 8.9% increase in value compared to the same period in 2025. While the average export price for black pepper was 6,372 USD per ton and white pepper was 8,386 USD per ton—both reflecting a decrease of approximately 4% compared to last year—the overall trade value has grown significantly.
Domestically, pepper prices have seen a recent upward trend, with prices increasing by 2,000 to 4,000 VND per kg in recent sessions. Current domestic purchase prices are fluctuating between 137,000 and 141,000 VND per kg, fueling expectations for a market recovery following a long period of accumulation.
