Vietnam plans civil servant salary reform to attract talent

Vietnam is working on a complex reform project for civil servant salary and social insurance policies. During a meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs on September 22, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra emphasized that the new salary policy must create motivation, retain talent, and attract high-quality human resources to the public sector.

The government acknowledged that current wage correlations between different groups are “not reasonable” and that paying based on job positions has not been fully implemented. The reform project is described as a “particularly complex issue” and is scheduled to be submitted to the Politburo in February next year.
