Vietnam PM calls for breakthroughs in education and training

Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has called for substantive breakthroughs in Vietnam’s education and training sector for the 2026-2027 academic year. During a national teleconference to review the previous academic year, the Prime Minister emphasized that reforms must be measured by tangible outcomes for students, teachers, and the nation’s human resources.

While acknowledging recent achievements, the Prime Minister highlighted several critical shortcomings that require attention, including teacher and classroom shortages, inadequate teaching equipment, and delays in policy implementation. He also noted concerns regarding school violence, food safety, examination cheating, and an excessive focus on grades rather than substantive learning.

Moving forward, the Prime Minister stated that the education sector must undergo a fundamental shift in both thinking and action. This includes transitioning from administrative management to development-oriented governance and moving from merely completing tasks to measuring actual results.
