Vietnam police alert public to fake traffic‑fine and TikTok Shop scams

Police in Phú Thọ province warned that fraudsters are sending SMS messages that mimic official traffic‑fine notices, urging recipients to follow a link, enter personal details and make a payment of up to 50,000 VND. The messages use government‑style wording and counterfeit web pages to steal identity information, bank accounts and OTP codes.

Separately, police in Đồng Nai city alerted residents to counterfeit TikTok Shop stores and false promotional offers. Victims have been coaxed into transferring deposits and additional funds after being directed to fraudulent links that imitate the platform’s interface. One case involved a worker losing nearly 30 million VND. The scammers also pose as customer‑service agents or delivery personnel and may request OTPs, bank details or the installation of malicious apps.

Authorities urged the public to avoid clicking unknown links, never share personal or banking information with unverified sources, and to conduct any traffic‑fine checks or online purchases only through official channels. If a scam is suspected, citizens should report it to the nearest police station promptly.
