Vietnam police arrest leaders of massive Bong88 online betting ring
Police in Ho Chi Minh City, together with forces from Cần Thơ, An Giang and other provinces, arrested 35 suspects linked to a large online gambling network operating the website Bong88.com. The network organized betting on the FIFA World Cup 2026 and other international football matches, handling more than 500 billion Vietnamese đồng (about $21 million) in wagers.
Investigators described a hierarchical structure – Super, Master, Agent, Member – with four “Master” figures including Huỳnh Minh Toàn and the alleged ringleader Lý Hoàng Oanh (nicknamed Oanh Socola), who, together with Vũ Quang Minh, directed the operation. The ring used Telegram bots, custom software and multiple payment channels, and raids seized phones, computers, cash and foreign currency.
