Vietnam police dismantle major cybercrime networks in Bac Ninh, Hà Tĩnh and Ninh Bình
On 16 July 2026, police in Bac Ninh province arrested nine suspects who had operated a Facebook‑account theft operation. The group rented a house, set up 41 computers and related equipment, and accessed at least 64 European users’ accounts, which they then sold via Zalo and Telegram. The raid seized 41 monitors, 41 CPUs, four motorbikes and ten mobile phones.
In the same province, authorities also broke up an online gambling syndicate that ran the Fi88 and KingGroup betting platforms across Vietnam, the Philippines and Cambodia. The operation involved more than 30 000 registered members and processed transactions worth billions of dong. Nineteen people were detained, including the local leader known as “Simon.” The network employed staff with monthly salaries of US$1,600‑4,000 and used cryptocurrency for payments.
Police in Hà Tĩnh province dismantled a separate football‑betting ring linked to the 2026 World Cup. Investigators reported over VND 200 billion in gambling turnover and arrested nine suspects who managed a hierarchical system of master, agent and member accounts.
In Ninh Bình, a nationwide betting network was busted, with authorities seizing evidence of more than VND 710 billion in wagers involving participants from multiple provinces. Five suspects were taken into custody, including a chief “super‑master” who supplied accounts to other agents.
