Vietnam police bust NFT‑linked crypto fraud scheme

Police investigations uncovered a fraud operation that lured investors to deposit cash or USDT to buy “real‑estate NFT” packages for 3 million VND or “Agold NFT location” packages for 25 million VND, promising rights to mine a new cryptocurrency. The scheme was run by Phạm Đức Anh (born 1977, Hanoi) and Nguyễn Văn Đạt (born 1979, Khánh Hòa), who created shell firms Digital Space Vietnam and Agold Technology to present the DHT token as an imminent international asset. They employed a multi‑level marketing model, paying 10‑15% commissions to recruiters. Money transferred directly to the perpetrators’ personal accounts, financing personal expenses, multi‑level payouts and further “seminar” promotions. Victims in cities such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nam Định and Nghệ An lost funds; two identified victims alone were defrauded of a total of 75 million VND. The Hai Phong city police arrested and charged the two suspects under the criminal code for illegal use of computer networks to commit theft and issued a warning urging the public to avoid high‑return crypto projects, multi‑level NFT sales, and the borrowing of corporate documents.
