Vietnam police caution parents and youth on online scams involving school awards and ticket sales

Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City police warned parents that posting school award certificates and report cards on social media can expose children’s personal details—full name, birthdate, school and class—to sophisticated fraudsters. The police advised blurring or omitting such information and using private account settings to protect families from identity theft, impersonation and other high‑tech scams.

Separately, police in Ninh Bình province alerted the public to ticket‑sale scams on Facebook, where fraudsters create fake groups, pose as trusted admins and demand payments into personal accounts before promising tickets for movies, concerts or events. Victims are pressured to send additional money to “verify” transactions, after which the scammers disappear, lock accounts and block communication. Authorities urged people, especially teenagers, to verify account details, avoid transferring money to unknown intermediaries, and to lock or report compromised accounts immediately. They also recommended preserving evidence such as screenshots and transaction records before notifying the police.
