Vietnam police detain nearly 1,000 in drug crackdown across Lào Cai and Tây Ninh

Vietnam intensified its anti‑drug campaign in two provinces. In Lào Cai, authorities detained 19‑year‑old Triệu Văn Đạo and Đặng Văn Trên after forensic hair‑sample testing confirmed illegal drug use and organization, and the investigation remains ongoing.

In Tây Ninh, a 30‑day high‑point operation from 20 May to 30 June led to 486 drug‑related cases, the arrest of 984 individuals and the seizure of about 20 kg of synthetic drugs, MDMA, heroin and other contraband. The province also compiled records on 1,440 drug users and addicts, indicted 857 suspects and placed 132 people in compulsory rehabilitation as part of its goal to become drug‑free by 2030.
