Vietnam police dismantle major online gambling and cross‑border fraud rings

Police in Tây Ninh province busted an online cockfighting gambling network that had taken bets totaling about 80 billion VND in a month. Seven suspects were detained, more than 60 million VND in cash was seized along with electronic equipment such as laptops, a TV and a Wi‑Fi modem.

In a separate operation, the Nghệ An provincial police arrested a cross‑border fraud syndicate led by Nguyễn Đăng Dũng, which operated from Cambodia and defrauded Vietnamese citizens of roughly 36.5 billion VND. Twenty‑four members were detained across several provinces, and authorities seized 30 mobile phones, two laptops, 15 passports, a car and a small quantity of illegal drugs.
